Alexandra, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a First generation American born in Pittsburgh PA to Polish born parents both of whom are professional artists, Architect and Interion Designer. Grew up looking through National Geographic Magazine and countless art books, many of which I still have today. Also spent time drawing, building simple stables for my toy horses and loved to climb trees. As I grew up I have kept my deep interest in nature by taking bike rides along the lake which gives me time to mediate and creative inspiration.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work? I create and produce a line of mixed metals everyday jewelry for men and women. Each piece is hammered and rather simple in its design. Horween Leather, stones and pearls are used for wearability and dashes of color. For the leather cuffs I incorporate hand drawn metal cut out symbols such as the Tree of Life, Chicago Flag and Yoga Poses which offers the wearer to have a personal attachment. Also, I have created cuffs with Zodiac signs and business logos.
I think of jewelry as a message about who I am and to speak to other people about how I see myself and what I want to tell people about me. I try to take this idea into the jewelry I create so it has meaning when one wears it.
How can artists connect with other artists? Get out of your studio and meet people! Join community groups such as a gardening group or a neighborhood association…there are so many so ask your alderman’s office and you are sure to meet some really interesting people and rest assured there will be fellow artists in the group🙂
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork? By checking out my Instagram account one can see my most current work along with my inspirations and studio space. I do have an Etsy shop and website where one can see and purchase my work. By following me on Facebook you can see my schedule of upcoming shows.
