Combining my love of beading and Horween leather

Several years ago I learned about the luxurious feel and amazing durability of Horween Chromexcel Leather by taking a class at the Chicago School of Shoemaking.

My goal was to create leather cuffs using my metalsmithing skills. I designed a stamp with the help of one their instructors which resulted in the ability to stamp out the leather foundation of my now very popular leather cuffs. I would then visit the school to stamp out these cuffs...then COVID hit the world...

I kept scraps of all the leather and woke up one morning with a new inspiration...leather rings! So I took out my plastic ring sizer and designed paper templates for rings ranging from size 7 to 10. They looked lovely sitting in the blue bowl but then I thought they need a bit more of something. Sitting in my studio I looked over and saw my Miyuki beads which I had recently used to create Christmas ornaments.
